\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p>The presentation and discussions were focused around the ruling of the Supreme Court on<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lac.org.na\/news\/cases\/Kashela_v_Katima_Mulilo_Town_Council_7_Others-2018.pdf\"> Kashela Vs Katima Mulilo Town Council <\/a>, whereby the court upheld the existence of customary land rights and the need to honour those rights, when communal land is transferred to local authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Stakeholders such as Ministry of Urban and Rural Development, Ministry of Land Reform, the Ombudsman,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.alan.org.na\/index.php\"> ALAN<\/a> (Association of Local Authorities Namibia), NALAO (Namibia Local Authorities Officials Association) and Integrated Rural Development and Nature Conservation (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.irdnc.org.na\/\">IRDNC<\/a>) attended the event and highlighted the fact, that communal land serves a specific purpose in Namibia and the
