Southern African Legal Assistance Network (SALAN)<\/span><\/a><\/strong>
\nThis is a southern African network of legal aid and legal assistance NGOs which addresses public interest issues through legal means to promote human rights in the region, and which strives to develop, promote and strengthen democracy in the region. SALAN is comprised of organisations like the LAC based in South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Tanzania.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe LAC is a member of the following\u00a0national<\/strong>\u00a0networks concerned with law, human rights and development.<\/p>\n

Law Society of Namibia<\/span><\/a><\/b>
\n<\/span>The Law Society of Namibia (LSN) is a self-regulating body created in terms of the Legal Practitioners Act (1995) which serves the profession and the public by promoting justice, protecting the independence of the judiciary and upholding the Rule of Law.<\/p>\n

\nNANGOF has become the umbrella body of about 95 national Namibian NGOs consisting of regional and national affiliates and working in a wide range of development areas. NANGOF\u2019s main goal is to create an environment in which the development sector can carry out its work with fewer obstacles, increased confidence and greater results at less cost.<\/span><\/p>\n

AIDS and Rights Alliance for Southern Africa (ARASA)<\/strong><\/a>
\nARASA is a regional partnership of non-governmental organisations working together to promote a human rights approach to HIV\/AIDS in Southern Africa through capacity building and advocacy.<\/p>\n

Law Reform and Development Commission of Namibia<\/strong><\/a>
\nThe LRDC therefore has a statutory function to: repeal obsolete or unnecessary enactments, consolidate or codify any branch of law, integrate customary law with common and statutory law, develop new or more effective procedures for administration of the law and work towards the enactment of the laws to enhance respect for human rights as enshrined in the Namibian Constitution or to ensure compliance with international legal obligations.<\/p>\n
