Biographies
Amon Ngavetene
Coordinator, AIDS Law Unit
With a Bachelor Degree in Education, Amon worked as a trainer and legal educator before taking over as ALU Coordinator in November 2006. Amon is currently completing his law degree with the University of South Africa.
Tonderai Bhatasara
Project Officer
Tonderai is an experienced human rights lawyer with interests in research and training in areas of HIV/AIDS and Human Rights. He is a project officer with the ALU responsible for the prison programme.
Belinda Hamburee
M & E Assistant
Belinda finished her diploma in communication and journalism at the Polytechnic of Namibia in 2008. She began working at LAC in July 2007 as an Intern in Communication; in March 2009 she started working time for ALU as a Communication and Admin officer. In November 2009 she was promoted to the M & E Assistant position.
Emmerentia Helu
Project Assistant
Emmerentia works as the project assistance at the Legal Assistance Centre at the AIDS Law Unit. She been with the centre since 01 June 2007. She first worked at
Keetmanshoop regional office as the project assistant and has moved to Windhoek in September, of which she started working as the PA at the AIDS law Unit on the 1st of September 2009.
Magreth Kambinda
Project Officer
Magreth comes with a Bachelor degree in Psychology and Sociology to the LAC. She worked as a volunteer at the Bernard Nordkamp Centre (Catholic AIDS Action), then in 2007 she joined Star for Life organization as trainer/coach then she become an area manager a year late for the organization before moving to on to join LAC.
William Magenya
Orphans & Vulnerable Children (OVC) Protection Officer
William started his career at the LAC as a volunteer and later became a candidate legal practitioner und the HURICON Unit. Since March 2008, William has worked as the OVC Protection Officer for the AIDS Law Unit. William studied law at the University of Namibian, attaining a B. Juris in 2005 and a LLB in 2007.
Marita Pickering
Child Support Officer - Rehoboth
With 32 years in the education sector, Marita has been a teacher for 25 years, a head of department and regional school counsellor in the Kunene Region for 5 years. She joined the LAC in 2010.
Melissa V. Boois
Child Support Officer
Melissa worked as program manager with Philippi Trust Namibia for the past 5 year in psychosocial support for OVC. In 2010, she joined the LAC.
Florence Shivute
Child Support Officer
Florence holds a B.Arts Degree in psychology. She has four years experience in the field of OVC, and she has worked as a trainer and OVC program officer in promoting children’s rights in Rundu, Kavango region. She also has a great passion for working with children and realizing their rights.
